Ultrasound Career Training

An ultrasound technician also called by various names like Sonographer, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Ultrasonographer mainly does the job of operating a medical equipment called sonography from a dark room. It is specially designed to regulate ultrasound waves into the patient's body that creates images on screen for diagnosing the medical ailments or disorders after which the doctor provides an appropriate treatment for the illness.

The ultrasound reflections are accumulated by the equipment as it generates photographic visuals of the different body parts. The ultrasound imaging is usually used in the process of prenatal diagnosis. There are a number of other treatments that also make use of this ultrasound technology.

An ultrasonographer is expected to perform the following functions:

-Place the patient on the table to perform ultrasonic imaging.

-To prepare the patient and apply gel on the parts of the patient’s body through which the ultrasound waves will be transmitted.

-To direct sound waves of high frequency into the various parts of a patient’s body.

-To work on the equipment that gathers the emitted reflections.

-Note down the report and measure statistics, to keep track of the measured values and evaluate the final outcomes.

-And then to provide the resulting sonography images to the healthcare professional for examination.

An ultrasound technician can focus on a number of other fields such as:

Obstetric and gynecologic sonography – This is centered on the female reproductive system where the sonography involves diagnosis of the fetus of pregnant women.

Abdominal sonography – which includes examining the patient’s abdomen to find the ailments associated with the organs like liver, kidneys, ducts, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas as well as the reproductive system of male and giving suitable medical treatments.

Neurosonography – This sonography involves the diagnosis of brain and the entire nervous system in humans. It helps find any malfunctioning and issues related to the brain after which the physician recommends the suitable therapy to a patient.

Breast sonography - This type of sonography is related to the examination of any diseases caused in breasts. It carefully observes factors like the blood supply, growth of any tumors in breast and also diagnoses breast cancer.

Vascular sonography - It involves diagnosis and treatment of blood vessels.

Cardiac sonography – A sonography technology which specializes in the analysis of heart related ailments.
